June 2026 - Updates to Board of Directors

Larry P Wasser | Published on 6/9/2026

Hello HBC Members,
Hope you are enjoying the start of the season.  I am pleased to announce two changes to our HBC Board of Directors.  Julie Groh will be stepping into the Ride Captain position to replace the open position previously held by Brian Horner.  Please welcome Julie in her new role and thank Brian for his service.  Ride Coordinators and Leaders, Julie will be reaching out to you soon.

Also, welcome Alan Roum, who has agreed to join the Board to fill the open position left by Julie's transition to Ride Captain.  Alan will be Vice President III.   He has extensive riding experience and served on multiple Boards.  He will be a great addition to the team.  Below is Alan's profile.  Please congratulate Alan in his new role.

If you are interested in joining our esteemed Board of Director's, please reach out to me at mroof7@comcast.net.  Several individuals will be dropping off the Board at year's end since their terms will be expiring ((including yours truly).   We need your support to keep this great organization running smoothly.  Thank you.

Biographical Summary for Board Position, Harrisburg Bicycle Club
 Alan D Roumm MD

I have recently retired from the practice of Rheumatology in the Harrisburg area after 42 years. I
have been an avid biker my entire life, bike commuting while living in Philadelphia for college,
medical school and residency as well as recreational road biking during the past 43 years I have
lived in Harrisburg. Most of that time I would ride on my own or with friends on the weekends
but for the past 5 years I have been doing group rides with the Harrisburg Bicycle Club.
Participating in the club group rides as well as club sponsored trips and events has been most
rewarding for me.

I have had a number of leadership and board positions in Community, Professional and Hospital
organizations that I will list below. These experiences have provided me with the knowledge of
how to work with other board members to accomplish the goals of these organizations. I am
interested in sharing my time and insight in support of Harrisburg Bicycle Club’s mission by
becoming a member of the board.
