Bicycle South Central PA Announces Its First Bicycle Infrastructure Tour!
BSCPA’s mission is to promote bicycling, increase safety, improve bicycling facilities, advocate for bicycle-friendly policies at the state, regional and local level, and provide a voice for bicyclists in South Central PA.
In response to our mission, we want to showcase the great safety improvements that are being made throughout our region. It seems appropriate to have the first tour in Harrisburg, our Capital city.
Here’s the basic info:
Date: Saturday, May 8
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Cost: FREE
Location: Fort Hunter Park, 5300 N. Front Street, Harrisburg. Park in the lot on the side where the barn is located (not on the riverside).
What to bring: A bicycle in good repair, helmet, water to drink, snacks (if needed), a mask to wear when not biking.
We are offering 2 guided tour options:
- Tour #1 is 20 miles long and includes the new downtown bike lanes and some crossing beacons. It also includes a tour of the New Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg (RBH) warehouse and portions of the Capital Area Greenbelt. There are some gradual hills on this route.
- Tour #2 is about 14 miles long and shares the same route as Tour #1 into the downtown area. Riders will then return to the start via the pathway along Riverfront Park. There are no hills on this route and no tour of RBH.
An informative video about the infrastructure improvements and what future ones are planned will be available for viewing at your convenience prior to the bike tour.
The tour is limited to 20 people.
