Starting Location

The Three Creek Century will be held at the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company (VFC) complex located at 1750 Pine Road, Newville PA 17241.  Please note that this location is not the Penn Township Supervisors Office on Centerville Rd.  Our event takes place at the Volunteer Fire Company site on Pine Rd.

Please note that overnight parking is not allowed at the complex.  The parking lot at Penn Township VFC will open at 6:30 AM on the day of the event.

The Cumberland Valley Rail Trail route will begin at the Newville Trailhead, located at 23 McFarland Street in Newville, PA.  Further information about the CVRT can be found at www.cvrtc.org

 

From Baltimore, MD (96 miles)

Take I-83 North to Camp Hill, PA. Take PA 581 West to I-81. Follow I-81 South to exit 37 for PA 233. Turn Left onto PA 233 South for 2.5 miles and turn left (just past the railroad tracks) onto Pine Rd.  Penn Township VFC complex will be on right at 0.5 miles.

 

From New York City / Northern New Jersey (190 miles)

Take I-78 West to Pennsylvania. Follow I-78 to I-81 South. Follow I-81 South to exit 37 for PA 233.  Turn left onto PA 233 South for 2.5 miles and turn left (just past railroad tracks) onto Pine Rd.  Penn Township VFC complex will be on right at 0.5 miles.

 

From Central New Jersey (150 miles)

Take I-95 or US-1 to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276) West.  Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76 West) to exit 226 for Carlisle and onto US-11 towards I-81.  Take exit to merge onto I-81 South and follow for 14 miles to exit 37.  Turn left onto PA 233 South for 2.5 miles and turn left (just past railroad tracks) onto Pine Rd.  Penn Township VFC complex will be on right at 0.5 miles.

 

From Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (100 miles)

Take the Schuykill Expressway (I-76) West to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76).  Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) to exit 226 Carlisle.  Merge onto US-11 North towards I-81, then merge onto I-81 South.  After 14 miles take exit 37 for PA 233. Turn left onto PA 233 South for 2.5 miles and turn left (just past railroad tracks) onto Pine Rd.  Penn Township VFC complex will be on right at 0.5 miles.

 

From Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania (190 miles)

Follow the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) East to exit 226 Carlisle.  Merge onto US-11 North towards I-81, then merge onto I-81 South.  After 14 miles take exit 37 for PA 233. Turn left onto PA 233 South for 2.5 miles and turn left (just past railroad tracks) onto Pine Rd.  Penn Township VFC complex will be on right at 0.5 miles.

 

From Washington DC and Virginia (125 miles)

Take 270 North to Frederick MD. At Frederick, get on US-15 North.  Turn left on PA-74/York Rd at Dillsburg.  Take PA-74 4.5 miles and turn left onto Boiling Springs Rd.  Follow for 6 miles and turn left onto Holly Pike.  Go 0.7 miles and turn right on Pine Rd.  Follow for 7.1 miles to Penn Township complex on the left.

 

From Wilmington, Delaware (115 miles)

Take US 202 West to the PA Turnpike (I-76).  Take the PA Turnpike West to exit 226 Carlisle.  Merge onto US-11 North towards I-81, then merge onto I-81 South.  After 14 miles take exit 37 for PA 233.  Turn left onto PA 233 South for 2.5 miles and turn left (just past railroad tracks) onto Pine Rd.  Penn Township VFC complex will be on right at 0.5 miles.

 

Lodging & Area Attractions

The closest hotels to the Penn Township VFC complex are in Carlisle, which is about 9 miles northeast.  There are also hotels in Shippensburg, which is about 11 miles southwest of the Penn Township VFC complex.  Both areas have plentiful restaurants and other amenities.  Links to Cumberland Valley visitors’ bureau, hotels, and campgrounds are below.
